How your support is changing lives
EB Awareness Week October 2017
With your help, in one week, 200,000 EB butterfly tattoos were released raising €128,000. Celebrities got behind the campaign showing their support by releasing their butterflies across social media including: Johnny Sexton, Colin Farrell, Kathryn Thomas, Leinster Rugby, Lorraine Keane, Maia Dunphy, Nathan Carter, Norah Casey, Dermot Whelan and Darragh Moloney. TV and radio appearances on Ireland AM, Sean O’Rourke Show and Pat Kenny show reaching 800,000 people. We reached out to 2.5 million people on Facebook with our message “Be part of the butterfly effect”.
“I was introduced to DEBRA Ireland about ten years ago and have been involved since then. DEBRA Ireland do incredible work. I’m proud of my achievements with the Irish rugby team especially this year, and I’m equally proud of my achievements with DEBRA. I’m inspired by the courage of those living with EB – you will never meet a braver group.” Leinster and Irish rugby legend Johnny Sexton.

Our two year partnership with Leinster Rugby allowed us to reach out to players and supporters alike spreading EB awareness to an even wider audience. Our match takeover saw players wearing their EB butterfly tattoos on the field in recognition of our EB heroes.
Twenty brave women from the business and tech world trained and fundraised for a year for a gruelling six day challenge in the northern most part of Finland. Enduring temperatures of minus 27 degrees, they learnt to live in the harshest of environments all with the hope of raising awareness and funds for those with EB. So far, they have raised an incredible €145,000!
