DEBRA Ireland is the national charity initially established in 1988 by parents, to provide patient support services to those families affected by, or living with EB in Ireland. From our early humble beginnings DEBRA Ireland has grown into an organisation which is amongst one of the largest contributors to EB research in the world. We are also leading the way being one of the first charities offering pediatric nursing care within the community.

DEBRA Ireland has played a vital part in the establishment of EB clinics in both St. James Hospital for adults and Our Lady’s Hospital for Children in Crumlin. Since 1988 we have seen our member numbers increase year on year. In a response to our members and their families, 2005 we saw the introduction of the role of family support worker and 2013 we have our first EB Clinical Nurse Specialist.
