St James Hospital together with Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin is currently seeking to recruit an epidermolysis bullosa (EB) Outreach Nurse, registered in Paediatric and General nursing.
POST: Epidermolysis Bullosa Outreach Nurse
HOURS: 39 hours per week
RESPONSIBLE TO: St James Hospital Foundation Limited
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Dermatologists at OLCHC & SJH,Director of Nursing OLH & SJH or nominated representative
QUALIFICATIONS: RCN / RN Child Branch/ RGN Min. 5 years post graduate experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience(within the last 7 years) in Dermatology Tissue viability /Acute plastic or burns. Graduate Diploma in Professional Nursing studies or wound management or be willing to undertake same.
DURATION: This post is for a fixed term of 3 years
BASED: Community Outreach with direct linkage to EB services at OLCHC & SJH
This is an integrated post, (39hours) for a fixed period of 3 years, providing an outreach service to children and adults with EB in Ireland including North of Ireland. DEBRA Ireland will provide funding for a fixed period of 3 years to the St. James Hospital Foundation for the post.
The EB outreach nurse will report directly to the Nursing Management structures that already exist at OLH & SJH and will liaise with the EB clinical/nursing team at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, Dublin and St. James Hospital, Dublin.
Wound management experience desirable, training will be provided to tailor experience to the requirement of a child or adult living with EB.

The ideal candidate will be:
- Registered Children’s Nurse (RCN)
- Registered General Nurse (RGN)
- Min. 5 years post graduate experience with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience (within the last 7 years)
- Experience working within the family home / community is desirable
- Flexibility with hours of work
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Have clean drivers licence
