Applegreen has chosen DEBRA as a charity partner for 2016/17
We are delighted to announce that Applegreen has chosen DEBRA Ireland as a charity partner for 2016/17.
Being voted Applegreen’s charity partner means the world to DEBRA Ireland. We have come such a long way from a handful of parents at a kitchen table, battling with the reality of an EB diagnosis to now being recognised by one of Ireland’s most successful retail companies. 
We are really looking forward to working with the team at Applegreen. Both Applegreen’s staff and customers will play such a huge part in helping DEBRA Ireland achieve two major goals – (1) to increase awareness of EB and therefore reduce stigma and (2) to ensure families battling with EB have the support they so urgently need.
About the project
Whilst hospital facilities for EB care are now second to none, day to day nursing care and dressings changes in the home are still largely done by mums and dads. This devastating routine of bandage removal and reapplication is extraordinarily painful and is traumatising for both parent and child. Our mission at DEBRA Ireland is to change this.
Our focus for 2016/17, with Applegreen’s help is to make sure that every parent in Ireland has access to the highest level of support in their homes and communities. This EB Community Care programme will mean parents will have access to an outreach service, leaving no gap between hospital and home – whether parents need wound advice or help filling out a medical card form, DEBRA will be there.
