Having been its champion since the beginning, Dr. Rosemarie Watson recently retired from the adult EB service in St. James’s Hospital. While we know she will be terribly missed by the adults with EB who attend her, she remains on in her role in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin and we are therefore relieved not to have to say goodbye. DEBRA Ireland CEO, Jimmy Fearon had this to say about her –

“Rosemarie is a leading light in dermatology in Ireland. She is well known in medical circles and much loved by her patients and all who come in contact with her. It is through her efforts that a dedicated, multidisciplinary EB service in St. James Hospital exists and we are forever grateful to her for that. She has been one of DEBRA Ireland’s greatest friends and supporters and we continue to work with her in all sorts of ways.”

She has handed over her post in the adult service to the extremely capable and lovely Dr. Fiona Browne, recently returned to Ireland from a long stint in the EB service in Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Joining Fiona on the adult team is EB nurse specialist, Eadaoin Redmond who, since earlier this year, is sharing the post with Katherine Sweeney. We would like to extend a big welcome to both Fiona and Eadaoin and wish them well in their hugely important roles.
