Support families living with EB this Christmas by making a donation.
We are happy to report that this year has been a positive year for DEBRA Ireland. After the heartache of losing three of our EB Superhero’s last year, we continue to work tirelessly on behalf of those living with EB and to honour those we have lost.
It is because of the generosity of supporters like you, we have been able to:
- Add another Family Support Worker to our EB Community Care Programme
- Fund a new Outreach Nurse in Crumlin Hospital
- Commit to increase our spending on research over the next three years
- Double respite grants so that families can avail of a much-needed break
Respite Grants provide huge relief to families living with EB. Rachel, mum of Casey, can explain what the grant meant to their family:
The grant helped me afford to bring my children on a holiday they will never forget. Casey got to see her favourite princesses and characters and enjoy the shows.
It allowed us to not worry or think about the impact of EB for a short period of time. (Rachel Connors, 2017)
These grants provide so much more than holidays. They are often used to cover costs when children are in hospital and families have to travel to Dublin to be near them and can be used for specialist equipment.
But mainly they provide moments. Special moments which will be cherished for ever, moments which many families can take for granted.
In 2018, we plan and need, to do so much more for those living with EB. If you can make a Christmas donation, it would mean so much to our families.
I hope we can count on your support.
Wishing you and yours a healthy and happy Christmas,
